Intro - Making Money Online From Home
Many of us prefer to be able to work from home, mostly online. It might be for our primary income or some side income, but either way being able to work from home can be convenient... keep in mind if you want more then a little supplemental income for your time, you will want to go with "online employment" instead of "online side income". Scroll to either section with the navbar on top.
Many of these sources of online income would be considered supplemental as they do not usually provide a lot of income, compared to a normal job. We are actively researching means of making money online, reviewing them, and are listing what we find out about various sources of online income to provide you leads in your own journey.
You sometimes have the option of doing it on a computer/ web browser, and sometimes a phone app is available. The phone apps can be more convenient for those less serious, people that just want a little supplemental money. Supplemental online income is going to be more easy to find, and be more convenient, such as playing games on your phone for rewards. Many phone apps offer points, coins, whatever they call it, that can be exchanged for gift cards. Some offer a cash pay out such as through paypal, or even direct deposits into your bank account. In our experience PayPal is the fastest way to actually get your money. If you get a PayPal Prepaid card you can connect your PayPal account to the debit card; this works like a normal debit card, with an account attached to it, allowing you to withdraw or use funds from your card to make purchases, pay bills, etc The prepaid cards also allow you to load money on your card at stores such as Walmart, Dollar General, etc for a $3-4 fee, or do direct deposits for a paycheck, or form one of these apps.
Online Side Income
Drumo
Drumo is one of my favorites... you get paid to take surveys, play games, and other offers. Cash out with as little as $1, and it can be quicker to make it there depending on what you are doing. They have a fast cash out to your paypal, once you accumulate enough. You could probably cash out for at least a dollar every day if you put time into it.

Surveys, cash offers, cash back on select purchases, contests, etc You can cash out at only $3. I've been cashing out at least $3+ every other day, sometimes every day, depending on how much time I put into it, since reviewing this one. It goes to your paypal.

You can download the app for your phone, or do it on there website on a computer. They pay you to do various tasks, such as complete surveys, look at there offers/ ads (paid emails), play games (make sure you read the conditions for each game such as must complete level 34 within 10 days, download the game from there link so they can track you, and screen shot/ save proof of what the offer is in case they do not auto credit your account.) We have used inbox dollars for years and they are reputable and we have been paid for most things we did; it is not a lot though.

MyPoints
With Mypoints, you get paid to do surveys, play games, submit receipts, etc
Our experience: Getting to the first cash out with surveys alone took awhile as you do not often get anything for “survey attempts†(when you are rejected for the survey, usually due to being screened out for not being their target audience). You only get credit if you get approved/ screened in for the survey and complete it. Toward the end of the first cash out I added some receipt pics and thats what ended up helping me get to the point of being able to cash out. When I first started the minimum cash out was 2400 points for $15 paypal. After I obtained that and went to cash out they offered an unexpected $25 cash out option for the same 2400 points, so I selected that one instead, adding an extra $10 I wasn’t expecting. After I cashed that out, they listed a $10 minimum paypal cash out for 1590 points.

Trying to figure out which phone apps are legit and actually pay you can be a time consuming challenge, so we have been doing some research for you and are posting summaries of ones we have reviewed, to point you in the right direction. We are also making a list of phone apps/ sites we have determined are best to avoid.
Paid Phone / Survey Apps
If you do not mind doing surveys, these tend to pay a little better than the paid game apps, for the amount of time you put in.
CrowdTap
CrowdTap is one of the better ones with our experience, as far as adding up and getting something out of it. You get gift cards and can cash out 1000 points for as little as $5 in gift card credit. For us, the most useful giftcard credits have been for the walmart credit. The app provides a giftcard code that you can scan at check out to be applied toward your payment.
5Surveys
To get paid you must get screened in for each survey, with 5 approvals and completions you get $5, hence the name. You do not get anything if not approved as with surveys they are seeking a target audience. We have completed the 5 surveys and have been paid the $5 minimum. It is likely to take over an hour, possibly several hours depending on survey length and how many you get approved for. Our experience is that, it does work and they do pay you.
Paid Phone / Game Apps
If you play games on your phone anyway, you might as well get paid for it. You will not make a lot for your time, but you can find a good selection of games to play and if using the right app, get paid for playing them. This would definitely be supplemental at best. If you need a larger amount of income for your time, you will want to go more toward online employment. If you want to play games for money and maximize how much you make, you really want to pay attention to the milestones listed for each game, and how much you can make with consideration of how much time it will take to get there. At some point the amount you get back versus how much time you put in usually declines and you want to be aware of when you are making less for your time then you were. This way you can decide which games to play, for how long, before deleting those that are not worth it anymore to focus on making more. You will come to realize you will need some sort of system to determine when to delete old apps in order to make room for new ones. They encourage and pay you more for trying new apps regularly, which means your phone storage becomes the limiting point.
Benjamin
Benjamin lets you cash out at $25 which could take a week, a month, or longer; it depends on what is available to claim for games, the pay rate varies, and how much time you put into it.

Rewarded Play is one of the better paid game apps we have reviewed, as far as what you can get for how much time you put in. They offer gift cards, such as Walmart store credit. You scan the gift card code provided by the app on your phone at check out to redeem.
You really have to look to see what they are offering to get something from it, ie Play Monopoly Go for 4 minutes. The way to get ahead quickly with this app is to go for there bonus offers, usually say doing 2 of 3 tasks as an activity group, to get up to 5k points, tasks such as download a new app from there offering list. With our experience to make the most from this app, they strongly push downloading new apps regularly. So this one is best for people that have a large amount of phone memory/ storage.
Tester Up
The Tester Up app pays you to play games on your phone. The limiting point is a $70 minimum to cash out. It can be done, and we have done it and received the $70 before, but it takes a while; probably more than a month can be expected.
Online Employment/ Jobs
Telus International
Telus is a legit online job opportunity, but is not for everyone. I was hired as an ads rater and made $11/ hour (less then a dollar over minimum wage), which adds up quicker then some other online work. It takes about ten hours of preparation/ studying one day and then you take the entrance exam the next day. The actual work was not that bad, but I had a lot of issues with things like not getting my timeclock log in info for a month. When I had issues it was at times very difficult to get help fixing it. I would get replies from different people, sometimes more heplful then others, other times no reply at all. It takes 2 days dedicated to (1) studying for the exam, and then (2) actually taking it, which was most of the next day. I started in the morning and was still working on the exam at 4 am the next morning. Once I qualified, the job was not too bad. Then they blocked my access to working without explanation and again I had to wait on bad replies/ lack of replies, and finally was told I never qualified to begin with and needed to requalify. So I did that and was told to go ahead and make a new work email, etc, as if to start the job over again. I did some more things they asked me to, and then after ward they informed me I was terminated. They never told me why I was terminated despite me asking them, just no reply to certain emails. It was alot of work to get in, much of it unpaid in the end, jumping through hoops and they do not always explain things very well. I have read reports online by others that they were known to fire people randomly without explanation, and that is kind of what I experienced. If you get in they pay you for the time you work in there system, but its a lot of hoops to jump through and then to get fired seemingly randomly without explanation when there website states it is stable employment with competitive compensation (barely over minimum wage, probably actually under if you count unpaid time.) To be successful with this you have to be able to make quick but good analysis decisions based on criteria they give you to judge based on. They expect you to be very quick but also very accurate. It was ok when I worked for them, but its not for everyone.
Rev
Rev pays you to do online transcription work. The actual work isn't that bad most of the time. Its easier if you can easily understand less then perfect speaking. Being able to type fast and accurately is helpful. They expect you to be very accurate, and if you are not pretty quick your hourly rate quickly goes down as you get paid by audio hour not the time you actually work. If your accuracy is not very high by the time your probationary period is over, they will fire you.
Starting your Own Online Business
Starting your own online business can be a very good way of making an income into the future with a long term perspective in mind. You will likely start out slow. Anytime you start a new business it is best to have another consistent income coming in while you do it, ie a normal job that can pay the bills in the meantime. Just because you put a website online does not automatically mean you will have traffic and make sales, or otherwise do business. The website makes you legit as a business and allows for better marketing, people being able to find you at some point say with a google search. In my experience you need to post flyers and tell people about your website/ business to get some traffic going. You have to gain some trust with people for them to seek you out, do business and pay you online. Once you get the momentum going things go better and become more consistent. At that point you want referrals from existing customers and to keep them coming back in order to grow. This is where having the website/ online business can be leveraged. Not having to maintain a bricks and mortar store front saves you alot of time and money and allows you to better focus on running the business and doing the things you are actually being paid for. When you first start a business, it is often said that you are the business. Keep that in mind, as until you can afford to hire employees to help, you will liley be the one doing all aspects of your business.
At FES, we can help you get your online business started from the ground up. Contact us today with your ideas, and aspirations and we can help you form a plan around those to turn what you want to do into a potentially profitable business model.
At FES, we can help you make a simple one page website hardcoded by professionals for as little as $50 if under 3 hours of development time and can be coded by one of our junior web developers that have 5-10 years of development experience, assuming you already know what you want to do. Or we can stay by your side a little longer, and help you figure out what you want to do and how we can help you get this accomplished.
We provide low cost hosting for as little as $5/ month for your website. Your domain name would usually be an upfront cost of $10-20 per year. If you want a security certificate, that would need to be purchased and would increase the cost.
We also offer discount prepaid monthly packages, such as two hours of development time per month for modifications and updates along the way, for only $30 per month; otherwise additional development time would be only $20/ hour, both assuming they can be coded by one of our 5-10 year experienced junior web developers. If we required an additional specialist to help with more in depth coding requests, ie complex back end apps, complex apps, etc it may be more per hour but in the rare case this comes up, we would let you know your project is getting more complicated and would disclose the difference to you before performing the work and adding it to your invoice.

Not Recommended/ Paid Phone Apps
Gamer Points
Never received cash out. Gaining credits went fast at first, really slowed down toward cashout time. After cash out they said we should receive within 24-48 hours (from sept 28), but over a week later still nothing. We have had contact with them and they claim they’re having issues but should still come.
