A person typically either has or does not have the potential to fulfill the minimum criteria for a certain position in life, work, business, etc, based on their IQ and related factors. One person may have a much higher IQ than is required as a minimum threshold and yet not make anywhere near the position they are vastly over qualified for during the course of their life, while another individual may barely meet the minimum threshold and not only make the position, but be very highly successful in having done so. The difference here would generally be the persons level of Emotional Intelligence. The much more cognitively gifted by aptitude individual may not have near the level of Emotional Intelligence as the less cognitively inclined individual, and this would determine much of their abilities to work up to what may be seen as their potential in the real world. Research has also indicated that for those within these positions meeting the threshold, the indicator of their degree of success, how far they will rise in their respective field, is a result of their personal level and application of Emotional Intelligence.
The true significance here, is that for the most part we are born with a certain level of pre existing aptitude for IQ, but our interests in and application of a personal development program can allow us to significantly increase our levels and functioning in the areas of Emotional Intelligence. This is where we meet that point just beyond being able to blame nature, and now have the ability to begin doing something about it! This is the point where we truly have the choice of how successful we want to be. How successful in life do you want to be?
